Pilot trip run for Madinah Tourist Bus

A new spectacle will hit Madinah shortly, known as the “Tourist Bus”. A company which specialises in tourism will be operating the buses on behalf of the Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Development Authority. The first experimental trip in Madinah was conducted on Tuesday 6th June.

The initial trip was witnessed by businessmen and women as well as media representatives and was in preparation for the official launch in the coming days. Fahad Al-Bayti, public relations officer for the authority said the participants in the tour mentioned their admiration for the arrangement and equipment used. The double-decker buses cater for individuals with a disability so that people with special needs can also benefit from the unique project.

The tour starts from the Prophet’s Mosque, and will take the visitors to 11 sites in Madinah, including the historical and archaeological landmarks such as Al-Baqea Cemetery, Mount Uhud, the Qablatayn Mosque, Sultanah Road and commercial centres.

Al-Bayti mentioned that special consideration was given to the pricing of the tickets to make them affordable to everyone. As pilgrims from all over the world will use this service, the tours offer guides who speak eight languages. The project also includes five buses in the first stage, which will increase to 15 later. The service will run for 14 hours daily.
